Welcome to Titahi Bay Boating Club

Titahi Bay Boating Club is a friendly, family-orientated club, with safe sailing all year round in Porirua harbour. Our summer programme has club racing on Saturdays, while in winter we hold our annual Winter Series on Sunday mornings with boats coming from around the region to compete.

Continuing on with our well-attended 2019 Optisail, TBBC will again be hosting Optisail between the 22nd and 24th of January. This is a family-friendly live-in camp for all Optimist sailors in the Wellington area who have completed a learn to sail course, and are sailing in Rainbow or Green fleets.

If you have any questions, please contact Peter Keast, his contact details are in the Flyer.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The club is now on Facebook and we are using it to share news about upcoming events and to publish photos and videos when available.

We followed our usual formula for this year's TBBC Winter Series which ran over two groups of five Sundays either side of the July school holidays. We made one major change to the scoring system and this was now based on best 8 results in each group of 15 races. We've previously used best 13 and that meant you had to sail every week to be in with a chance of winning the series. Congratulations to this year's winners who were:
  • Optimist A - James Swinney (PBC)
  • Optimist Green - Jack Griffiths PLBC)
  • Laser - Keith Fey (PBC)
  • Open A - Richard Schmidt & Brian Hogg (TBBC)
  • Open B - Rory Kilmister (EBYMBC)

We were so busy with building and decorating that we didn't manage to get our Spring Series underway so this season we are running a Summer and then an Autumn series to make up for it. The Summer Series has finished and the Autumn Series started on Saturday 2 March. All the dates for both series are in the calendar below. We're running three races a day with registration open at the clubroom from 1230 each day and entry by gold coin donation. Visiting sailors are welcome.

We have a mixed fleet and so will be using a combination of yardstick and personal handicap to adjust finishing times and even up the competion.

You can view the Notice of Race here, the Sailing Instructions here, the Summer Series Final Results here and the Autumn Series Latest Results here.

TBBC hosted the 2019 OptiSail junior sailing camp on behalf of the Wellington Yachting Association (WYA). The live in camp ran for three days starting on Wednesday January 23 and finishing on Friday January 25 and was attended by 26 sailors from 6 WYA affiliated clubs.
